Henan government dishes out $350m in student loans in 2015

The total amount of student loans distributed by the Henan provincial government for local students this year was 2.25 billion yuan ($348.64 million), a 133.47 percent increase compared to last year.
The statistics were announced by the provincial center for student financial aid.
Thanks to efforts made by the provincial government, 311,400 students have received financial support this year. The total number of local children with learning disabilities having access to education rose to 80 percent this year, while the number of children from migrant workers enrolled in school in the province reached 99 percent.
The improvement of educational quality has been a top priority for the provincial government. In 2014, the government poured 123.31 billion yuan into the education sector, compared to 60.9 billion in 2010.
Since 2011, the government has invested eight billion yuan into improving hardware in 16,747 schools. This included upgrading teaching equipment, introducing multi-media provision and purchasing more books for students.
