Sanmenxia steps out to make life of villagers better

With an aim to accelerate the poverty-relief pace in the city of Sanmenxia, Henan province, local officials conducted a visit in the city's Lushi county on Dec 3.

The officials went into some low-income families in the county and sent a couple of cotton coats and quilts to ensure a warm winter for them. After talking to these families, the officers had a better insight into their current situations and ideas for next-step poverty-relief measures to be taken.

During the visit, the officials inspected some physical stores of rural online business and listened to the locals. They also praised the general ideas, development momentum, operation turnover and development plans of the county's e-commerce industry.

"Lushi county should make a more clear development direction of e-commerce as next step. Local uniqueness is a strong dynamic for economic growth and to raise incomes of farmers," said Guo Xiurong, chairman of Sanmenxia's people's political consultative conference committee.

The local government attaches great importance to the development of e-commerce and has determination to make it a new pillar to raise the farmers' income. Experts say that the industry is expected to witness an explosive growth in the coming few years as the drive of industrial upgrade continues and the industrial chain matures in the city.
