Mentougou has a continental monsoon climate. It is dry and windy in spring, hot and rainy in summer, cool and wet in autumn and cold and dry in winter. Annual temperature in its eastern part averages 11.7 Celsius and the western part 10.2 degrees. The district gets a lot of sunshine, roughly 2,470 hours per year. Precipitation drops from the east to west and varies a lot because of atmospheric circulation and monsoon influences.
