A delegation from the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), conducted an inspection tour in Sanmenxia city of Central China's Henan province from Sept 11 to 12.
The inspection was made to assess the on-going implementation of the province's family planning policies. It was led by Gao Tijian and Qian Guoyu, the organization's vice-chairmen.
The group made field inspections to areas of the city where family planning implementation is needed. They visted the family planning service stations in Linbao county and Zhangwan village, and the aged-care center in Guojia village, Yuandian township. While there, they learned about the latest working trends.
The group later attended a symposium, where they listened to a work report on family planning from the Sanmenxia municipal government on the afternoon of Sept 11.
During the symposium, Gao Tijian praised what the municipal government of Sanmenxia had achieved in family planning and highlighted the significance of forming a balanced population in society.
He proposed four requirements to carry out such work, namely, to list the formation of a balanced population into the 13th Five-Year Plan of Henan province, improve the policy system for cultivating a balanced population, innovate methods to solve the problem of population imbalance and enhance the research and publicity of the formation of a balanced population to promote a whole strategic transformation of population.
Zhao Haiyan, mayor of Sanmenxia and other top government officials from the city accompanied the group during the inspections and showed them around the city's Swan Lake Wetland National Park on Sept 12. The group advised the Sanmenxia municipal government to promote the swans in the city and continue the park's beautification work.
