Government sectors including the public security bureau, housing and urban-rural development bureau, and finance bureau of Sanmenxia, Central China’s Henan province, launched a campaign to ensure migrant farmers get their salaries on Dec 9.
Staffers from government departments will visit enterprises to inspect the payment situation of migrant workers. As a majority of migrant workers are concentrated in industries like building construction, processing and manufacturing, and food service, enterprises in such industries will be a pivotal destination for inspection tours from government sectors.
Companies with unpaid trials and unlawful deductions to migrant workers will be punished according to the labor law. Serious violators will be ordered to suspend businesses for rectification, have their licenses revoked and transferred to public security organizations.
The upcoming Spring Festival falls on Feb 19. This campaign to protect the legal interest of migrant workers will last until Feb 10. The human resources and social security bureau of Sanmenxia has also opened 24-hour hotlines for people to report companies with unpaid trials and unlawful deductions according to different areas.
