Large Pingyao construction projects

Pingyao county, Shanxi province is large construction binge with projects that are expected to improve it culturally and ecologically and contribute to a healthier economy, with the focus, this year, on agricultural industrialization and facilities, technological innovations, high-tech projects, county branding, and tourism.

It has 69 key projects with greater spending, six of them with at least 1 billion yuan ($160 million) each, or 55.7 percent of total county investment for this year, and 38 new projects, at around 19 billion yuan. The largest project is the Pingyao Ecological Tourism and Cultural Park, expected to cost around 10 billion yuan.

In deciding on project plans, the county takes three things into careful consideration -- industrial conversions, urban-rural balance, and local people’s wellbeing.

Key projects at the provincial level have pulled in 1.8 billion yuan, or 88 percent of this year’s target.
