Latin American delegation visits Sanmenxia

Yang Shuping, head of the Sanmenxia Party committee, together with Sanmenxia Mayor Zhao Haiyan and other local officials welcomed an economic and trade cooperation delegation from Latin American countries at the International Cultural Exhibition Center in Sanmenxia, Central China’s Henan province, on Sept 19.

Yang said: “As Confucius says, ‘It's such a delight to have friends coming from afar.’ Sanmenxia warmly welcomes our friends from Latin America.”

He added that the economic contacts between both sides have a long history. President Xi Jinping's second visit to Latin America - Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba - from July 17 to 23 this year has opened a new chapter in Sino-Latin American cooperation.

Central government policies have meant bright market prospects for Sanmenxia in recent years. Local officials also introduced the investment environment of the city and invited the delegation to take part in the third China Specialty Products Fair, which runs from Nov 8 to 12 in the city this year.

Liu Zhenhua, deputy director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said the council will be glad to build a platform for Sanmenxia’s economic and trade cooperation with Latin American countries.

Members from the delegation said the beautiful landscape, social harmony and stability in Sanmenxia impressed them, and they would invite more enterprises at home to find business opportunities in Sanmenxia, also known as the “city of swans.”
