The Silk Road Culture Chang’an Forum for the First Silk Road International Art Festival was opened in Xi’an, capital city of Shaanxi province in Northwest China, on Sept 12, cssn.cn reported.
Under the theme of “New Silk Road, New Starting Point, New Culture”, participating scholars discussed the Silk Road culture at the forum. They suggested that Shaanxi should take this historic opportunity to carry forward the Silk Road spirit and culture, and conduct cultural communication and cooperation with central Asian countries. Based on its regional advantage, Shaanxi should make strategic plans to speed up the transformation of its economic model and the development of an open economy.
The festival, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Shaanxi Provincial Government, will continue to Sept 27. It aims to display the culture of the Silk Road and the influence of Chinese civilization, and to improve cultural communications between the countries along the Silk Road.
