Proposal: To conserve the source of life
The 2014 National Network Media in Zhejiang week rounded off in Nanbei Lake scenic area in Hanyan county on Aug 29. The event was themed “poetry and painting like Zhejiang, water charm in Jiangnan (south of the Yangtze River)”.
During the last week in August, editors, journalists, and photographers from more than 50 network media across the country visited seven scenic spots in Zhejiang province that are known for their waters, including the Hangzhou part of the Grand Canal, the Xixi wetlands, the ancient town of Xitang, and Nanbei Lake.

Lu Chunzhong, deputy director of Zhejiang’s provincial environment protection department, initiated a water protection proposal at the closing ceremony of the event. Lu said that the media tour’s visit to different waters in Zhejiang is more like a public welfare activity calling for environmental protection. He hoped people nationwide would also participate in conserving water.

The nationwide network media at the ceremony echoed the proposal by posting signed cards in the shape of a water drop on an initiative wall. They will carry with them the water protecting proposal all over the country.

By 3 pm Aug 29, the national network media tour completed a total of 586 news releases and 15 news features. The search results of “2014 Zhejiang water” on the search engine Baidu reached 890,000 pieces. Zhejiang Online News website, the host of the event, also honored the outstanding reporters in the event.
