6th Jiangxi Tour kicks off

The launch ceremony for the Sixth Jiangxi Tour for China’s Online Media kicked off on March 25, on Shanshui Square in the county of Wuning, Jiangxi province, with Wang Xiaofeng, head of Jiangxi provincial tourism bureau, Zhong Zhisheng, mayor of Jiangxi’s Jiujiang city and journalists from almost 60 of China’s mainstream news online media taking part in the activity.

The “Jiangxi Tour” this year was sponsored by Wuning county, famous for its tourism and influence across the country as well as the world. It was co-organized by the Jiangxi Daily and Jiangxi provincial tourism bureau.

Wuning is a national ecological demonstration county, and is located on the boundaries of Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces, with forest coveraing 72.1 percent of the area.

Wuning owns a large amount of high-level tourism resources. In April 2007, when ex-Premier Wen Jiabao visited Wuning, he wrote the inscription “Shanshui Wuning” (mountains and waters in Wuning), which had already become a popular moniker for the county.
