Zhongguancun's new science park creates over 20,000 jobs

The 15.73-square-kilometer Fangshan Science Park - a sub-park of the Zhongguancun Science Park - realized a total revenue of 13.52 billion yuan ($2.24 billion) and created over 20,000 jobs as of October 2013.

The park was inaugurated in southwest Beijing's Fangshan district on Jan 29 last year, when the Zhongguancun administrative committee and Fangshan government signed the Cooperative Framework Agreement of the Zhongguancun Science Park Fangshan Sub-park.

The sub-park includes the Beijing petrochemical new material scientific industrial base, Beijing high-end manufacturing base, higher education zone and other major industrial bases and functional zones in the district.

A total of 140 enterprises and institutions are located in the park, which includes an office area of 777.8 hectares, with gross investment of 36.28 billion yuan and gross capital of 10.82 billion yuan. In 2013, 60 enterprises in Fangshan Park received the Zhongguancun High and New Technology Enterprises Certificate and thus benefit from the package of Zhongguancun preferential policies.

From January to October 2013, Fangshan Park realized a total industrial output value of 10.51 billion yuan and generated tax revenue of 570 million yuan. and has created over 20,000 jobs.
