Development of rail transportation technology cluster underway in Fengtai

The rail transportation technology industrial cluster which is being developed in Beijing's Fengtai district is expected to become an innovation center for China's rail transportation industry, and it will include an exhibition hall displaying the industry's new products and technology in the Garden Expo Park.

Fengtai Rail Transportation Technology Park

The Fengtai Rail Transportation Technology Park will be located in the east zone of the Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park, and the China Railway Group and China Railway Signal & Communication Corp will aim to attract enterprises in and out of the China railway systems, so as to accelerate its development of the Fengtai Rail Transportation Technology Headquarter Park.

Officials estimated that the park's annual gross revenue will reach 90 billion yuan ($14.87 billion) by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).

Rail Technological Innovation Industrial Park

The Rail Technological Innovation Industrial Park is expected to be located in the west zone of Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park, and will cover an area of 2.72 square kilometers. It is expected to offer a service system related to research, testing, authentication and commercialization.

In addition, an exhibition hall in the Garden Expo Park – which will be an exhibition center for new products and technologies of the railway industry – is located in the west zone and will focus on technological innovation, and west zone II will focus on high-end manufacture. The Rail Technological Innovation Industrial Park is expected to generate an annual gross income of 15 billion yuan by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan.

Upgrading traditional enterprises

Fengtai is also continuing to upgrade and transform traditional enterprises, including China Northern Rolling Stock Industry Corp and China Southern Rolling Stock Industry Corp – and a new innovative technology science park is expected to be built on the site.
