Texas Instruments, the world's largest analog circuit component manufacturer and a global leading semiconductor company, signed an agreement with Chengdu Tianfu Software Park in October 2012 to establish R&D and sales facilities in the park.
The agreement followed the acquisition of TI's first wafer lab in China, a fully equipped 200-mm facility located in Chengdu's high-tech zone purchased from Cension Semiconductor Manufacturing Company in 2010.
TI's office in the software park will cover an area in excess of 2,000 square meters and will be located in the park's E Zone.
As of today, 20 semiconductor companies have settled in Chengdu's high-tech zone, including Intel, TI, MediaTek, Freescale, Fujitsu Microelectronics and Marvell. It is also home to more than 100 international and domestic integrated circuit (IC) makers, including ASM, MPS, SMIC, SENTEC, Huawei and ZTE.
Chengdu is home to the fourth most important IC cluster in China after the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Bohai Bay.
