With an attempt to aid urban and rural planning management, a newly-developed high-tech system, three dimensional (3D) emulation, is coming into wide use in Hefei City, provincial capital of Anhui province.
The new system can simulate a 3D shape of Hefei and integrate it into computer in a fixed proportion by way of seamless connection, making it possible for urban planners to finish local construction on a screen, such as building factories, parks, flyovers, bridges, and so on, said a researcher from Hefei Municipal Surveying and Mapping Institute which designed the system.
According to Hefei Municipal Planning Bureau, a series of high-tech technologies have been used in forming the 3D model buildings of the city, including space remote sensing, 3D GIS, virtual reality, computer visualization, database and the latest high-resolution satellite images of the city.
Up to now, with the help of the 3D emulation system, Hefei has finished electronic checking of 34 urban developing projects covering construction area of some 9 million sq.m.
