Loongson is China's first general-purpose computer CPU chip with proprietary intellectual property rights developed by the Institute of Computer Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences. In order to accelerate CPU's industrialization process, Loongson Industry Alliance was established in Beijing on December 24, 2002.
Loongson Industry Alliance is comprised of seven domestically renowned enterprises, including the Institute of Computer Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Haier Group, Great Wall Software, China Soft Group, Red Flag Software, Shuguang Group and Shenzhou Longxin.
Loongson Industry Alliance researches and develops computer technological products, including computer CPU and operating systems. Their products can replace the Intel CPU chip and Microsoft Windows operating system that dominate today's computer market.
With the Loongson CPU technological breakthrough, the alliance is aiming to boost the development of domestic key computer technologies, expand the industrial chain of national information technology, and explore the new model of cooperation between industries and research institutions in China.
