UNESCO Chengdu Conference concludes in Sichuan

DUJIANGYAN, Sichuan - The three-day UNESCO Chengdu Conference Promoting Balanced Development of Education Enhancing the Level of Internationalization of Education concluded on Monday in Dujiangyan, a city under the administration of Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.
About 70 officials and experts from the UNESCO, Chinese and foreign education departments held heated discussions in the conference with the theme "Equity, Quality and Internationalization."
Topics of the conference included quality education, school management, the equal opportunity to education and the internationally oriented education.
The conference was sponsored by the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, Chengdu municipal government and Beijing Normal University.
Among the attendants to the three-day event were UNESCO’s Director-General Irina Bokova and China's vice minister of education Hao Ping.
Chengdu has been a leader on the Chinese mainland in promoting compulsory education and experimenting equal education in the urban and rural areas since 2003.
