SHANGHAI - NEPCON China 2011, an international electronics show, opened at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center on Wednesday.

"The three-day show will be a strong stimulus to the country's effort to step up the development of its electronics industry," said Gao Sumei, a senior officer from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The show, co-sponsored by CCPIT Electronics & Information Industry Sub-Council and British Reed Exhibitions, plays a platform for professionals to exchange information and technologies, said Gao.

"China witnessed a recovery of its electronics industry last year, with sales reaching 6,339.5 billion yuan, up 25.5 per cent over 2009," she said, adding that software came to an output value of 1,300 billion yuan, an increase of 30 per cent over 2009.

Present at the show are 350 enterprises from 22 countries, including Assembleon, Sony, Samsung, Hitachi and WKK, to display new products and technologies.

The show provides visitors a complete chain to manufacture electronics products, ranging from SMT equipment to testing facilities, raw materials and elements.

Sponsors said a seminar on SMT will be held to discuss the latest market situation and the development of electronics industry.
