XI'AN - The 2010 Luyang International General Aviation Festival will be held in the Luyanghu Development Zone in Weinan city in Nothwest China's Shaanxi province from October 15 to 17.
The festival will consist of the air show, static display, a forum and folk culture exhibition. Sixty-eight types of aircraft from China, the United States, Australia, Sweden and other countries will participate, according to Gao Yuanyang, assistant to the mayor of Weinan.
Gao said the Luyanghu Development Zone in Weinan has excellent conditions for the development of general aviation. It has the best general aviation airport in the country and the Puyang Lake is the permanent host of China's biennial aviation convention, according to Gao.
The festival will witness the dynamic performance and static display of aircraft such as general aviation aircrafts, powered parachutes and hot-air balloons.
Eighteen aircrafts are expected to fly in the air performing the large loop, roll, stall turn, aerial ballet and other stunts. Ten members from China's national parachute team will display parachute performances, Gao said.
The festival also has designed activities such as driving simulators and hot air balloon ride for participants to experience the thrill, overcome the psychological barrier and achieve a sense of accomplishment, he said.
A photography contest, children's painting competition, puppet show, Shaanxi opera and lion dance performances will also be held to fully demonstrate the rich folk culture heritage of Shaanxi, he added.
