Spotlight 1: Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone

Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone enjoys a total exhibiting area of 400 square meters. A three-dimensional electronically-driven sand map of 150 square meters is built to represent the overall layout of Pingtan Island, its long-term plan for cross-strait cooperation and the beautiful landscape and tourist resources. According to the sand map, two more bridges are to be built besides the Sea Altar Strait Bridge presently under construction.

Pingtan is the biggest island in Fujian Province and it is only 68 nautical miles away from Hsinchu Post (Taiwan). Drawing on the convenient geological location of Pingtan Island, Taiwan Strait Tunnel north line (Pingtan—Hsinchu) is planned; besides, Beijing—Taipei Expressway is under construction where Pingtan will be the linking point between Chinese mainland and Taiwan. Administrative authority of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone has brought to the fair various investment projects such as industrial park, clean energy, deep processing of marine products, tourism, leisure industry, universities, creative industry and so on. Pingtan is positioned to be a pilot basis for cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. Just like the auspicious mascot “kilin” (unicorn) that stands in the exhibition, Pingtan Island is bound to have a propitious perspective.

Spotlight 2: exhibition of Taiwan food

Taipei World Trade Center Co., Ltd, is the major organizer to lead Taiwan food manufacturers to the fair. According to the manager of TWTC, Fujian is the best channel and gateway for the selling of Taiwan food to Chinese mainland and this fair is a perfect stage for the promotion of Taiwan food products. Taiwan’s foreign trade association brought 88 food manufacturers to the fair; comparatively, just 55 food manufactures came last year. This sharp increase suggests that more and more Taiwan manufacturers have recognized the influence of Cross-straits Fair for Economy and Trade on the selling of Taiwan food in mainland China.
