The number of registered public corporations, private enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises, privately owned businesses and farmers’ specialized cooperatives has reached a record 2.81 million by the end of 2009. These business entities involve a total registered capital of 2.5 trillion yuan.
"Business entities in Shandong are developing steadily, presenting a positive momentum,” said Wang Tianren, deputy director of Shandong Industrial and Commercial Bureau.
Of these business entities, 2.15 million are privately owned, of which 519,000 were registered in 2009, an increase of 28.3 percent from 2008.
Capital from privately owned businesses registered in 2009 hit 18.8 billion yuan, an increase of 42.9 percent from 2008.
Encouraged by governments, the number of farmers’ specialized cooperatives hit 25,873, covering 266,000 farmers.
