JOINT EFFORTS FOR WORLD ECONOMIC RECOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT
The World Economic Forum is one of the most influential international forums and the 40th annual meeting of the forum underscored the theme of "Rethink, Redesign and Rebuild," which was held at a right moment and carried realistic significance, He noted.
All parties discussed major issues in the post-crisis era such as the future development of the world economy and the reform of the structure of global governance, which embodied the spirit of cooperation and innovation.
Li delivered a speech entitled "Build a common future through cooperation and inclusiveness and promote sound recovery and sustained development of the world economy" at the forum.
The vice-premier also met WEF executive chairman Klaus Schwab and held dialogues with world famous entrepreneurs.
Concerning the strategies and trend of development of China, Li briefed the audience on the measures China has adopted to counter the global financial crisis, the effects and experience it has gained in the process, as well as the strategies for future economic and social development.
The vice-premier also stated China's policies on increasing domestic demand, readjusting economic structure and transforming the economic growth pattern.
Li stressed that despite the global financial crisis, the fundamentals and long-term positive trend of China's economic development remain unchanged.
The Chinese leader also expressed China's viewpoints on globally concerned issues such as trade protectionism and global governance.
China is fully committed to peaceful, open and win-win development, Li said. Today, with globalization increasingly deepening, China cannot achieve development without the world and vice versa.
As a responsible big developing country, China will remain steadfast on the path of peaceful development and work with other countries in a joint endeavor to build a harmonious world of enduring peace and common prosperity, he said.
Li's addresses on different occasions were full and accurate, frank and honest, simple but profound, which helped the world develop a deeper understanding of China's policies and look at China's development in a more rational and objective way.
The development of the world economy in the post-crisis era constitutes an important topic at the Davos World Economic Forum.
To promote a sound recovery and sustained development of the world economy, Li spoke to the international community with the following proposals:
-- To increase coordination and cooperation in macro-economic policies so as to seek a full recovery of the world economy at an early date;
-- To firmly oppose all forms of protectionism, continue to advance trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and promote a more open international market;
-- To strengthen South-South cooperation and North-South cooperation, scale up assistance to developing countries and promote a more balanced development of the world;
-- To act in unison and jointly tackle major global challenges such as climate change, energy and resources security, food security, public health security and major natural disasters;
-- To follow the principle of equal participation, cooperation and inclusiveness, and raise the voice and representation of developing countries, in a bid to develop a fairer and more efficient structure of global governance.
Li's proposals have reflected the common aspiration of the international community to jointly overcome difficulties and create a bright future for the world, He said.
