Tea time in Fujian

Updated: 2009-11-05 16:21 The 3rd Cross-strait Tea Industry Expo will be held in Ningde, Fujian province from Nov 16 to 18 to showcase the tea culture of Fujian and enhance cooperation between the mainland and Taiwan's tea industry. The Ningde Exhibition Center will host the Expo, covering an area of 28,000 sq m and providing more than 600 booths, among which 100 booths will be reserved for tea enterprises from Taiwan. In addition, more than 600 tea enterprises and 1,000 dealers from major tea production areas nationwide and the European Union, Southeast Asia, Japan and Russia will attend the Expo. The Expo will consist of performances, exhibitions, lectures and tours and is estimated to attract more than 5,000 visitors. Ningde is a famous tea production area in Fujian. The area of tea gardens in the city reaches 860,000 mu (57,333 hectares) with an annual production exceeding 60,000 tons. |
