Updated: 2009-11-02 13:16 The 62nd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) was held in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, from October 28 to 31. The four-day fair, co-hosted by Sinopharm Group, China Association for the Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI), Chengdu Municipal People's Government and Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions Group, saw more than 2,100 exhibitors and 120,000 visitors attend this year. Initiated in 1979, the CMEF, held in spring and autumn each year, has become the biggest and most authorized fair for medical equipment and service. It is also the most significant platform for communication and purchases in the Asian-Pacific medical field. With an area of 100,000 m2, this year's CMEF had more than 5,000 international standard stands, clearly divided into specialized catalogues such as Imaging, In vitro Diagnostic (IVD) and medical electronics to facilitate customers purchasing. The Imaging area, with products covering radioactive, ultrasound and nuclear-medical equipment, was the largest area, occupying 15,000 square meters. World famous enterprises like GE, Siemens, Toshiba and Hitachi had stands to showcase their products. "This fair is great. It has various and plenty of products," Mohamed Omar, a manager from El Takadom Import & Export Company said. Omar, who came to Chengdu from Egypt, told China Daily that he intended to find ideal equipment in the fair. This year's fair also provides a crucial platform for academic communication. Conferences and forums focusing on the innovation and application of clinical medicine, product research and development, relative policies and regulations, were also held alongside the exposition. |
