Chengdu hosts New Energy Int'l Forum & Solar Energy Fair

The 2009 New Energy International Forum & Solar Energy Fair kicked off in Chengdu, Sichuan province Monday.

Sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Chinese Renewable Energy Society and Chengdu Municipal People's Government, the two-day event draws experts and famous entrepreneurs from home and abroad.

Li Chuncheng, secretary of the Chengdu Municipal Party Committee, said the city had given great support to the development of the industry in the aspects of industry and policy support.

The Forum and Fair will focus on new energy, photovoltaic technology and industry, and solar technology and industry forums under the theme "Opportunities and Challenges of the Solar Energy Industry" by holding a series of exhibitions of products, equipment and technologies.

Over 100 new energy enterprises in the city and some major industrialized projects were being promoted, Li said.

Chengdu will take the solar energy, nuclear energy, wind energy, new energy vehicles and semiconductor lighting industries as priorities to develop equipment and support products in order to build Chengdu into a new energy industrial base, Li added.
