More than 500 "flash dancers" moved to the music of Michael Jackson who released "Beat it" in honor of what would have been his 51st birthday at 4 p.m. on August 29 in Xi'an.

Many surprised people walking down the street stopped and watched the performance. After the songs ended the group of dancers disappearred immediately into the crowd.

Jackson fans in Hong Kong, Beijing, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Chengdu and other cities also took part in the global flash mob to honor the King of Pop.

A flash mob is a group of people who gather in a predetermined location, perform some brief action like a dance or freeze in the same pose, and then quickly disperse after the performance.
