Health reform in Shandong province is moving ahead after getting a huge financial injection, the Shandong Provincial Government announced July 29.

According to the plan, 41.8 billion yuan will be invested in the next three years to ensure basic medical care, improve community-level medical and health services, and establish a national system for basic drugs.

Efforts will also be made to allow for easier access to basic public health services. The reform aims to provide all citizens with basic medical and health care. A nationwide basic medical and healthcare system is being planned for both urban and rural areas. It will be established by 2020 to provide better medical and health services.
