The world's leading chemical company - BASF - set up a pavilion at Zhongshan Park in Shenyang to present concepts and technologies for a sustainable future.

From June 12 to 20 the public had the opportunity to visit the pavilion and learn about the company's solutions ranging from energy efficient housing and cars to eco-friendly lifestyle products and extra safe toys for children.

BASF has been active in China for more than 120 years and it is now an official partner of "Germany and China – Moving Ahead Together". Its portfolio ranges from oil and gas to fine chemicals, plastics and agriculture products.

Johnny Kwan, chairman of BASF Greater China Country Board, said the pavilion was set up so the people from Shenyang and the surrounding community could come in and "discuss their ideas on how we can achieve the goal of improving our economy while at the same time not compromising on ecological and social development".

"In China, we have already introduced a series of initiatives supporting sustainable urban development, and Shenyang has great potential for the future in this area," said Kwan.

The energy-efficient construction solutions pavilion examples showed how BAFS'products can contribute to China's energy-efficiency regulations and making cars more environmentally friendly.
