IMB Corporate Service Corps project was launched in 2008 with the agenda to further improve its employees’ leadership and help emerging markets solve the problems which coincide with rapid economic development.

Ten IBM volunteers from eight countries introduced new technology and gave talks for seven Chinese organizations, including universities.

Zhu Zhiliang, head of Software College of Northeast University, said it was a success.

"The project enriched our education philosophy, enhanced the relationship between company and university and created a new way of corporation between the two," said Zhu Zhiliang, head of Software College of Northeast University. "And their energetic and modest working style impressed me a lot," he said.

Henning Glegg-Sorensen, who travelled to China from Denmark for the project, said he learnt a lot from it.

IBM has held similar international projects previously.

In 2008, 100 IBM employees divided into 11 groups travelled to Ghana, Tanzania, Rumania and Vietnam.
