Hebei officials launch probe into poisoned sparrows

Residents were left wondering why several sparrows fell on trees and died either immediately or within a few minutes.

The birds were found near Chengde, Hebei province, on Sunday. The discovery left some concerned about bird flu.

Experts from a local epidemic control center for animals hurried to investigate and they concluded the birds were poisoned.

The case is under investigation.
