A new bridge being built over the Lianshui River in Loudi city, Central China's Hunan province has fallen apart during construction. The bridge, 426 meters long and 28.5 meters wide, had a total investment of 108 million yuan ($17.5 million) and construction started in June 2009. But on March 12 around 9:40 pm the bridge snapped and the incident is under investigation by the Loudi municipal government. A preliminary probe has revealed that the early removal of scaffolding caused the bridge to break. A more detailed investigation is underway. [Photo/Asianewsphoto]
