Hou Zhongjian, a duck farmer in Yongtai county of East China’s Fujian province, looks at a pile of dead ducks in his farm on Monday. As many as 3,600 ducks raised by the farmer have died in the past seven days. The local animal husbandry bureau said the ducks died of fowl cholera, while Hou blamed the ducks’deaths on wastewater discharged by a paper factory into a river running near his farm.[Photo/China Daily] |
