Inheriting a tradition in NW China

Bu Wenjun, an heir of the Wei family’s tile carving, works on a piece of tile carving in Longde county, Northwest China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region, Oct 27, 2010. Bu and his wife, Wei Fengping, are fourth-generation tile carvers. Combined with the traditional craft, they added new designs to the works, such as carvings of dragons and phoenixes. The carvings were cataloged in the second autonomous region-level intangible cultural heritage list in 2009 and have been put into scale production as a local special industry. [Photo/Xinhua]
