As summer vacation comes for many university students, the second peak season of railway travel of the year, Shu Yun (summer travel peak) begins. Shu Yun will last from July 1 to August 31. The passenger flow is expected to increase by 8% to reach 311 million during the two month.
On the first day of Shu Yun, the Beijing West Station ran in an orderly manner, with no sudden increase in the number of passengers. The Beijing Railway authority said this summer season, 34 temporary trains will be added to ease the pressure of upcoming crowds.
