Japanese Prime Minister resigns
Japan's Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama (R) is applauded by lawmakers of his ruling Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) at a general meeting of DPJ lawmakers at the parliament building in Tokyo June 2, 2010. Hatoyama said on Wednesday he and his powerful party No. 2 would resign after a slide in the polls threatened their party's chances in an election expected next month. [Agencies]
