Contestants scramble for buns on a tower in the annual Bun Scrambling competition at the soccer pitch of Cheung Chau Pak Tai Temple Playground, Hong Kong on the early morning of Saturday, May 22, 2010. The event, which started at midnight, is a tradition on Cheung Chau island with nealy 300 years' history. In the competition, contestants climb the tower with buns hung onto it to grab as many as possible and clamber over rivals to get to the topmost ones, which are considered the best. Afterwards the buns are distributed to onlookers, who eat them. The buns, filled with lotus seed paste, are believed to cure disease and bring good luck. [Photo/Xinhua]
