Is 'Earth Hour' a good idea?

So although turning out the lights for an hour or so may raise awareness to the issue of climate change, it may not be enough to convince people that climate change is real, it's happening now, and it could effect them in the future, and that they need to give up more than electricity for an hour. The most effective way to raise awareness about this issue is educating people about climate change, its effects, and what they can do about it.
