The community of shared destiny that China and Latin American countries are endeavoring to build will not only lead their ties to a new height, but also benefit the world at large.
President Xi Jinping has just concluded his third visit to Latin America since he took office in 2013. Such a high frequency of visits demonstrates Beijing's determination to further relations with countries in this region on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and common development.
China and Latin American countries have broadened their consensus through candid dialogue and by taking a long-term perspective. By dovetailing their development strategies they can connect domestic and overseas markets, integrate industry chains and value chains, and deepen China-Latin America cooperation.
The Year of China-Latin America Cultural Exchange celebrated in 2016 has strengthened the friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
During his visit, Xi announced new measures such as increasing the number of training opportunities in China for people from Latin America and the Caribbean to 10,000 in three years, setting up a center for media exchanges in China and holding a roundtable on environmental and development strategies in Beijing in 2017.
Deepening bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, and actively participating in trade, investments and innovation in the Asia-Pacific not only accord with the development demands of the two sides, but will also help to inject confidence and dynamism into the world economy.
Collaboration between China and Latin America on such issues as climate change and sustainable development will also set a good example for South-South cooperation, help developing countries to gain a greater say on the global stage that can foster a community of shared destiny for all mankind.
