As China's nationwide anti-corruption campaign continues, many regions are now facing a challenge attracting investment.
In the past officials and businesspeople used to be closely connected and their relations mutually beneficial. Such "relationships" tended to result in collusion between the two parties that turned into corruption through the trade between money and power.
Corrupt collusion between officials and businessmen should be seriously dealt with, and officials should be constantly aware of the bottom line in their dealings with businessmen.
To build a healthy and normal relationship between officials and businesspeople, the authorities at all levels should properly handle the relations among power, the market and enterprises. The authorities should strictly abide by the Party's discipline and national law, and further improve related regulations and systems. Lists of the government's powers as well as its responsibilities and the negative lists should be released to the public, and the boundary between government functions and market activities should be made clear so as to create a new and healthier ecology for relations between officials and businesspeople.
