A large number of children swarm into Beijing's subway to beg during the summer vacation, most of whom are brought by their mothers from Minxian county in Gansu province in Northwest China, according to the authorities. The mothers, born in the 1990s, are healthy and face strong criticism for making use of their children in this way.
Due to its harsh environment, Minxian is a national-level poor county, and many of the residents live hard lives. And it is indisputable that some people fall to the bottom of society because of various factors beyond their control, such as being born into poverty and lacking opportunities.
However, these mothers are young and healthy, and are able to work. But they regard begging as a way to make quick money without working, and they are willing to use their young children as the tool for that purpose. It is not only immoral but also violates the law protecting children.
