Officials should resolutely strive to reduce corruption and effectively curb any new corruption, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee said on Thursday.
The existing corruption refers to the abuse of power committed before the 18th Party Congress while the new corruption to those that took place after it. The warning came as the political bureau examined a report on the national discipline inspections. The Party should be aware of the grim and complicated anti-graft situation and "reduce corruption with the most determined attitude and prevent corruption from taking place with the most decisive measures".
Since the 18th Party Congress in November 2012, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Party's top graft-buster, has carried out five rounds of inspections and sent disciplinary inspection teams to 66 regions and institutions, including all 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions on the mainland. Dozens of officials above vice-ministerial level have fallen as a result. The warning once again reaffirmed the leadership's determination to root out corruption.
