I have never been married but was in a long-term relationship that ended. I think our main problem was not money. We were not exactly in poverty but there is always someone richer. I don't think money matters that much. Also, I find that many low socioeconomic families are very tight and very defensive of family members. Some poor people develop fierce family nationalism as a defense against the world that seems to hate them.
