Comment on “Lessons to be learned from Germany” (China Daily, June 29)
Certainly, we must learn and learn fast to apply the new skills and techniques which fit into the 5th five-year plan. Don't apply them en masse all over the country, but use and apply them where the best conditions are most favorable for their development. If these do become successful, careful monitoring must be in place so the successes can be fine-tuned for other businesses as well.
The Germans are well-known for their "quality" fixation, including efficiency and efficacy. Hence, it is imperative that product quality be viewed as the ultimate determining factor for the success of an enterprise. A product usually loses competitiveness once it is outperformed by another, but a product with essential and/or unique qualities makes it the ultimate survivor in the jungle of a myriad of similar items and a strong guarantee of a company's existence.
