Make education creative

Chinese students should receive quality education, instead of being forced to do tons of homework just to get good scores in examinations, says an article in Qianjiang Evening Post. Excerpts:

While many people travel, go shopping or just rest at home during the Golden Week holiday, many students continue their hard work. A student in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has said his homework during the holiday included writing 10 essays from The Analects of Confucius and 80 ancient poems.

It's a pity that students, who have been made into "slaves of homework", cannot relax even during holidays. Education in essence is human resources training, which is crucial to Chinese people's future.

China is still weak when it comes to original research. So, the authorities need to pay more attention to original and quality research and development.

If the students are forced to do tons of homework or cite from ancient texts, they cannot give full play to their creativity.

We must change our short-sighted, exam-oriented education system, or else it will eventually curb society's overall growth.

Hence, the authorities need to take immediate measures to truly alleviate the burden of the students.
