The Chinese government needs to make sure that modernization of technology and business be tempered by a corresponding filling of social values or the society will fall apart. Social values are the glue between modernization of materialistic endeavors and maintenance of state authority. Without filling in cultural values and social values with China's rich history in these areas, Chinese youth will fill this void with Western values.

The Chinese government needs to modernize its locally developed arts programs, promote its own cultural, musical, and acting talents above and beyond those of foreigners in order for Chinese to be proud of their country. Or else the new generation would pick up the worst of the Western world while failing to absorb its strengths. Keep in mind that the success of modern China is home-grown, through traditional Chinese values of diligence and perseverance in absorbing modern technologies. China can and should maintain its traditional values while modernizing.
