Netizens mourn for Mr. Samaranch

Juan Antonio Samaranch, the former president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has died at the age of 89 on Wednesday. Netizens express their grief in comments and China Daily BBS.

Beijing netizen named mariame said the Chinese people will never forget Samaranch who helped bring the Olympic Torch to China, allowing the country to display its characteristics and strength on the world stage and making great contributions to the sports development of China.

Rafae, a netizen in Spain said they were so sorry for the death of a man that helped to build a better world through the Olympic Games worldwide. "He was a special fan of the Chinese culture. Rest in peace this universal Spaniard."
