Kenya's Samuel Kamau Wansiru crosses the finishline in the men's marathon at the "Bird's Nest" National Stadium during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on August 24, 2008. Wansiru won the men's marathon title, giving Kenya their first ever Olympic gold in the event. The 21-year-old timed 2hr 06:32, breaking the 24-year-old Olympic record set by Carlos Lopes. Morocco's Jaouad Gharib (2hr 07:16) took silver and Ethiopia's Tsegay Kebede of Ethiopia the bronze (2hr 10:00). [Agencies]
