BEIJING -- Russian team won the title of women's 4x100 meters relay here on Friday night at the Beijing Olympics, while Jamaica suffered a disaster at the second legs and did not finish the race.

Russians clocked 42.31 seconds, while world championship bronze medal winner Belgium took the silver in 42.54 and Nigeria won the bronze in 43.04.

Pre-race hot favorite Jamaica, including two-time Olympic 200m title holder Veronica Campbell-Brown and newly-crowned 100m Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser, dominated the race from the start but totally lost the contention after Sherone Simson could not catch the baton from Fraser.

Jamaica had dominated the sprint gold medal before the race as they won the men's and women's 100m and 200m title. Usain Bolt won both men's race with new world records.
