The National Indoor Stadium (NIS) will be re-decorated for a better service of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, director said on Friday.
The NIS, one of the three main complexes for the Beijing Olympics, will stage gymnastics, bounding table, handball and wheelchair basketball competitions during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
All the four sport authorities had testing competitions in Beijing when the Good Luck Beijing Sport Events were on for the past four months.
"We are confident that the NIS will serve well for the Beijing Olympics though we still have many aspects to be improved," said Li Guo, Director of NIS.
Li said the first re-decoration will be the screens which hanged on the wall of both ends of the court. New screens will be almost three times bigger than the old ones.
"The barrier-free facilities, washing rooms, the floor and power providing are all needed to re-designed and changed. A total of 1, 700 people had been on service during the Good Luck Beijing. We'll find the more efficient management of the volunteers and working staff," Li said.
Li promised all the re-decorations will be completed by May.
