BEIJING -- The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) has approved 22 new outlets of the Beijing Postal Savings and Remittance Bureau near 2008 Olympics venues.

The banking regulatory body has given the bureau special dispensation for the outlets as it suspended the establishment of new outlets in 2006 when the country started the reform of postal savings agencies.

An official with the CBRC said 19 of the new outlets would be built near gyms, conference rooms, media centers and living communities and the remaining three at important communications areas near the venues.

He did not reveal the costs of the move and where the money would come from.

All the outlets would cover an area of more than 100 square meters with some taking up 1,000 square meters, said the official.

They would provide "comprehensive" financial services, he said.

Beijing Postal Savings and Remittance Bureau will renovate 59 existing outlets in the neighbourhood of the Olympic venues to offer "first-class" financial services to meet demand during the Games, he said.
