In Osaka, today will see two Chinese athletes standing on the starting line of the 110-meter Hurdles finals in the World Athletics Championships for the first time. They are Liu Xiang and Shi Dongpeng.
The 23-year-old Liu Xiang, also holder of the world record of 12.88 seconds, clocked 13.25 to finish second in heat 3. Cuba's rising star Dayron Robles won the heat in 13.21.
"Whatever result I got today is not important! I will do everything for tomorrow's final. My aim today was to enter the final -- and it doesn't matter if I am in lane one or lane eight. I entered the last eight -- so that's good.I compete with myself!" said Liu Xiang.
